Training the
next generation of scientists who will work to protect oceans
and human health.
The
health of coastal ecosystems is inextricably tied to humans
and human health. Ecosystems directly or indirectly
provide vital services or goods to humans, including clean air,
clean water, food, and recreation. Healthy coastal ecosystems
are essential for the survival and prosperity of human populations.

Our mission:
To train scientists who can work effectively in the coastal
zone, who understand the dynamics of the coastal system and
the specific problems that relate to ecosystem and human health;
to provide resources and information that will address and shape
human responses to pressing coastal management problems related
to living marine resources, seafood safety and human health.
